STT GDC India has signed an MoU with the Govt of TN to invest INR 1900 Cr in the state to significantly expand its presence

STT GDC India is the oldest and largest data centre operator in the state of Tamil Nadu and the country. The company currently has close to 45 MW of operational capacity in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. In sync with the massive digital adoption in the country and with Tamil Nadu’s economic pre-eminence and natural advantages, STT GDC India continues to invest in the state as part of its strategic expansion.

Given the potential, STT GDC India has signed an MoU with the Government of Tamil Nadu during the Tamil Nadu Global Investors Meet 2024 signalling up to INR 1900 crores of investment outlook. STT GDC India envisages creating additional data centre capacity of up to 80 MW critical IT load in multiple phases over the next 5 to 7 years across suitable locations in the state.

This MoU reflects the efforts of the government of Tamil Nadu to develop and oversee the growth of advanced data centre facilities in the region and leverage the unique potential of Tamil Nadu, with its advanced state of industrialization and international connectivity, as one of the leading leading data centre hubs in India and the region. The spirit of cooperation between STT GDC India and the Government of Tamil Nadu is expected to drive significant growth in the Data centre space, create incremental employment opportunities, and contribute to the overall development of the state’s digital infrastructure.

STT GDC India’s Chennai data centre network encompasses three facilities, collectively offering over 45 MW IT load capacity. This includes the STT Chennai 2 facility located in its Ambattur campus which stands out as one of India’s largest operational data centres with a sprawling space of over 4 lakh sq. ft. and an impressive 25 MW critical IT load capacity. The Ambattur Campus offers highest levels of redundancy, carrier-neutrality, scalable design, and ability to deliver on most stringent of SLA requirements. The facility is AI infrastructure ready with ability to support very high-density power requirements as well as liquid cooling where required. Adhering to the best global design standards STT GDC India data centres including its Chennai facilities, ensure uninterrupted business critical operations for its customers across sectors while embodying innovation, sustainability, and operational best practices to enable a resilient digital future.
