VAHDAM India Prioritizes Environmental Sustainability; Annual Report FY 22-23 ahead of World Environment Day

VAHDAM® India, country’s largest home-grown Indian teas and wellness brand, focused on taking India’s finest teas and spices across the world released its annual Impact Report, showcasing the progress and actions taken in the realm of environment & social initiatives. The report highlights VAHDAM® India’s commitment to environmental, social, and governance (ESG) goals.

For 3 years in a row, VAHDAM® India continues to be a climate & plastic neutral. The brand has been offsetting its carbon footprint by purchasing verified carbon credits from Gold Standard Foundation, Switzerland and aims to become and remain a net-zero emission organization.

VAHDAM® India has been a net-zero plastic footprint brand by offsetting their plastic usage through investments in the Neela Sagar project in Hyderabad, while supporting grassroots innovators in solving plastic waste issues. Speaking on the release of its annual Impact Report, Bala Sarda, Founder & CEO, VAHDAM® India said, “At VAHDAM®️ India, we embrace the ethos of “DO GOOD BY DOING GOOD,” aiming to make a sustainable impact on both people and the planet. As a purpose-led brand, we strive to make a long-term  impact. For the last 3 years, we have continued to be a certified climate and plastic-neutral brand. As an organization, we are focused on reducing our carbon footprint. We are actively working on developing packaging materials and designs that use lesser plastic, a higher proportion of recyclable plastic, and environmentally friendly and sustainable materials.”

All its pyramid tea bags are now made with 100% Non-GMO cornstarch called PLA (Poly Lactic Acid) that is industrially de-composts within four days and home-composts within 22- 44 months.

In addition to its environmental initiatives, VAHDAM® India has committed a minimum of 1% of VAHDAM® India’s revenue is directed towards the education of its farmers’ children under its flagship CSR Initiatives, TEACH ME. Launched in 2018, so far, TEACH ME has impacted the lives of nearly 13,000 children in around 68 tea estates, schools, and community centers across West Bengal, Assam, and the Nilgiris. The company aims to expand the outreach of TEACH ME to producers of tea, spices, and herbs, increase direct partnerships with tea growers, enhance digital teaching capabilities in schools, and support alternative career paths for students.
