Mozilla Firefox 95.0 keeps cyberattacks at bay with added security

Mozilla Firefox

The new Firefox update offers a much safer and memory-efficient experience.

Mozilla recently released Firefox 95.0, which is supposed to be a more secure and memory-efficient web browser. The new Firefox 95 update is shipped with a novel sandboxing technology called ‘RLBox’. This technology helps to easily and more efficiently isolate subcomponents of the browser and thus making it more secure from cyberattacks via malicious third-party codes. It is currently isolating five different modules namely Graphite, Hunspell, Ogg, Expat, and Woff2. This technology uses WebAssembly to isolate the suspicious codes. This was earlier a prototype and was shipped only for Mac and Linux platforms by Firefox. However, with the latest release, it is now available to all the platforms that support the installation of Firefox (Desktop as well as Mobile). Firefox says this technology or rather technique helps users to overcome accidental defects and supply-chain attacks. For a note, the Eastern European ATM Malware was a case of a supply-chain attack. The Stuxnet computer worm of the early 2010s was also a case of a supply-chain attack.

As per the claim made by Mozilla, the browser is going to use less memory as compared to its predecessor, specifically on macOS and Windows Server during any occurrence of event processes. Site isolation is now enabled for all the users who are using Firefox. With the recent release, there is a piece of good news for Windows users as Firefox can now be downloaded from Microsoft Store on Windows 10 and Windows 11. If we talk about features, you can now find a new toggle button in picture-in-picture which will allow users to position the frame in the left or right of the browser.
