Excerpts of the interview:

How is the IT outlook as enterprises have now learned to run business in COVID?

Business continuity planning does not usually include plans for uncertainties like a pandemic. But now enterprises will consider it too. Enterprises have learnt how to run their operations and business with reduced business travel and fewer face to face client interactions. Due to more people working remotely, cybersecurity risks have increased and enterprises have realised the need for better cybersecurity solutions. Enterprises have now identified which are their most critical functions that need to be onsite and which ones can be remote. Flexibility of work will soon become a normal. More businesses will move to the cloud.

How will CDN help enterprises in 2021?

With the effects of the COVID 19 since 2020, the year 2021 will definitely see a rise in use of CDNs. With the many advantages CDN can bring to enterprises, there will be more and more enterprises moving to the cloud. A CDN can be easily integrated and quickly deployed on almost any platform. It not only assists in boosting the speed of delivery of static web content but also aids in providing faster internet connection. It is highly reliable and ensures reduced chances of website downtime. It allows websites to be more scalable too. Using a CDN is a cost-effective option for enterprises. The total cost of bandwidth is reduced, due to decreased bandwidth. A CDN also helps to offload the origin server. With remote working, the increased risk of cyberattacks can be handled by a CDN that can ensure improved cyber security. Enhanced performance of a website and better user experience can lead to dmore sales.

The expected rise in data consumption as COVID stretches?

2020 has been a year of remote working and online schooling. And almost everything including shopping, entertainment, gaming, browsing news, etc have turned online. There is a visible growth in online users and internet data consumption due to COVID. This rise in data consumption is bound to increase even more as ongoing pandemic stretches on to 2021. The demand for CDN services will increase too for providing enhanced web browsing experience to site visitors. Rise in data consumption in 2020 was an unexpected surge but it is an expected rise in 2021.

What is the reason of shift to cloud infrastructure and applications due to COVID in 2021?

Before the coronavirus crisis, most businesses had shifted only a small part of their computing workloads to cloud, from their on-premises hardware. But pandemic brought about changes like complete remote working, reduced business travels, lesser face to face interactions, and hindered the capabilities of enterprises. Hence, many enterprises will now fast-track their plans to move more of their workloads to the cloud. Moving to the cloud can definitely help enterprises get the flexibility, business continuity needed to handle any possible event in future. With the many advantages of shifting to the cloud, many businesses that hadn’t considered a shift to the cloud may be prompted to do so now.
