DE-CIX India expands its Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing Network Capacity

DE-CIX India

The leading carrier and data center neutral Internet Exchange operator on the Indian sub-continent, DE-CIX India, expands its Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing (DWDM) network capacity at the Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai, and Kolkata markets. DE-CIX has therefore replaced existing devices to increase capacity up to 320GE and has upgraded software versions for better performance and reliability. Additionally, the deployment of second fiber rings will improve the network efficiency and increase the network availability massively. This is another important milestone for DE-CIX India to provide the most robust network on the sub-continent.

DWDM technology provides the ultimate scalability and reach for fiber networks. It is compatible with future upcoming advances in optical networks and helps to create a highly reliable, transparent, very scalable, and easy network. DE-CIX India will now deliver bandwidth speeds of up to 320GE across its DWDM network infrastructure. The total network capacity reaches multiple terabits per second data traffic.

“DE-CIX prides itself on customer delight and establishment of market dominance through technological superiority coupled with highest levels of service and resource management. The COVID lockdown has proved beyond doubt how timely upgrades can enable the company to serve its customers with unmatchable reliability. With the new outstanding DWDM technology, the work of more than 100 optical fibers can be accomplished with just two optical fibers which further enhances transparency and reliability of network layers,” says Sudhir Kunder, Senior Vice President and National Head Sales at DE-CIX India.

DE-CIX India has now increased its geographical presence to a total of 12 Data Centers in India. With 6 Points of Presences (PoPs) in Mumbai, 3 in Delhi, 2 in Chennai, and 1 in Kolkata the firm has largely increased its ability to offer new comprehensive connectivity services. The backbone capacity has been doubled in the markets of Mumbai, where peak traffic has been recorded at 1.1 Tbps. Following Mumbai, Delhi and Chennai, the roll-out of a 100-Gbps capability at DE-CIX Kolkata will also ensure the best interconnection services in the eastern internet gateway of India.
