Edtech Company- SkillingIndia & Jorhat Kendriya Mahavidyalaya, CT Bora College Jointly Organizes a National Seminar on Life Skills

Jorhat Kendriya Mahavidyalaya, CT Bora College, Pune in association with SkillingIndia, an edtech start-up that focuses on life skills organised a 2-day national seminar & workshop on the ‘Significance of soft skills & life skills and its pertinence in career development.’ The virtual event was held between 24 th – 26 th June which saw a participation of students, academicians, universities & educationalists. The session was opened by the Principal Dr. DulenSaikia from Assam Science and Technology University, Guwahati. Assam. In the words of Neeraj Kumar, Co-Founder SkillingIndia, “In recent years, the rapid developments in science and technology and the challenges of globalization are posing additional challenges to the education system. Today, students not only require academic qualification but non-academic abilities is equally important to assist through life’s many problems. This seminar is a way to make students understand the importance on this aspect & its influence in the quality of student’s life.”

The seminar dwelled on various pertinent challenges of soft & life skills amongst the students.

The speakers discussed on soft skills – bridging the gap between industry & academia, understanding & relevance of designing the curriculum for soft & life skills, methods of teaching soft & life skills, soft & life skills or today’s workforce, soft & life skills for employability, soft & life skills and NEP; embedding soft skills & life skills education in conventional courses. The convener of the seminar Dr, Arunima Borah introduced all the guest speakers of the session that included Dr. K.C. Mohite – Principal ChandramalTarachand Bora College & Conference Co-Chair:, Professor Rakesh Vaid, University of Jammu; Professor Renu Nanda, University of Jammu, Mr. Neeraj Kumar, Co-Founder -Skilling India, Sandeep Gautam, Positive Psychology, Happiness & Strength Coach and T.V Shankar

In his welcome address, Dr.DulenSaikia, spoke and expressed his concern regarding the rarity of soft skills in majority of students and how soft skills may be effectively introduced in institutes of higher learning. He emphasized & quoted ‘Hard choice easy life, easy choice hard life’—although it may seem difficult to acquire the soft skills, these skills may pave way for an easy life. Thus, he stressed upon the necessity of acquiring soft skills for better opportunities in life.

The Conference Co-Chair: Dr. K.C. Mohite elaborated on the necessity of positive attitude in this pandemic situation and highlighted a number of soft skills. He also spoke on the significance of this seminar and his belief that it would prove to be of immense help to faculty members as well as students
